Welcome rainfall ends the spring drought!

Posted on 29 May 2025

As we head into June, many growers will be happy to see the recent rainfall in the last week of May following a very long, dry 3-4 week period since mid-April time, where crops and soils were beginning to suffer visible signs of stress from lack of rain.

These rain events and heavy showers will help crop growth but may also signal a change in disease pressure situations and pest prevalence in many crops, so growers should remain vigilant around their upcoming late-season crop protection programmes, especially in key crops like cereals and potatoes.

Clayton offers a wide range of fungicides and insecticides for late spring/summer use in cereals, potatoes, pulses and field vegetables.
